Overview
Franchise businesses require special handling during the Data Enrichment matching process. This article explains how franchise matching works and why you may see different results for franchise locations.
Why Franchises Are Treated Differently
Franchise businesses often share the same brand name but are independently owned at each location. One franchise location may be diverse-certified while another location of the same brand is not.
To ensure accurate reporting, supplier.io applies stricter matching rules to franchise businesses.
Franchise Matching Rules
For franchise businesses, the matching algorithm requires:
- Company name must be a close-to-exact match
- Address must be a close-to-exact match
- Both criteria must be met to assign a category status
This strict matching ensures that any category identified is associated only with the specific franchise location that holds the certification, not applied broadly to all locations under the same brand.
What This Means for Your Results
- A franchise location may not match even if another location of the same brand is small and/or diverse
- Address accuracy is critical for franchise suppliers
- You may see the same brand name with different diversity results at different locations
Tips for Better Franchise Matching
- Include complete street addresses for all franchise locations
- Use the exact legal name as it appears on the franchise's certification
- If a franchise location is certified, ensure their address in your system matches their certified address
