Overview
When reviewing supplier diversity data, you may notice different certification sources listed. Understanding the difference can help you meet your program's reporting requirements.
Certification Source Types
Self-Certified (Classified)
A supplier is marked as "Self-Certified" when they have submitted their diversity information directly through our SupplierOne registration portal with a signed affidavit on file, valid for up to 1 year from initial signature.
What this means:
- The supplier has attested to their diversity status
- An affidavit is on file as supporting documentation
- The certification has not been independently verified by a third-party agency
Certified
A supplier is marked as "Certified" when their diversity certification has been validated by an independent or third-party certifying agency.
What this means:
- The certification has been independently verified
- The supplier met the certifying agency's requirements
Which Source Should I Trust?
Both certification sources are valid, but they represent different levels of verification:
| Self-Certified | Certified | |
| Verification Level | Supplier attestation with affidavit | independent agency review |
| Documentation | Affidavit on file | Shows an active registration status or possess a certificate from 3rd party agency |
